This renovation of a heritage apartment in Zagreb’s city centre was a response to the needs of a young family whose existing layout did not provide sufficient functionality. The apartment was found partially renovated, with one bedroom and a very small study. The goal was to reorganise the floor plan to create a spacious children’s room, a functional study with two workstations, and an open-plan living area, while respecting structural constraints and the heritage character of the building.<\/p>\n

The kitchen was relocated to the living room to form an open-plan living space, while the large hallway was repurposed as a children’s room. The study was enlarged and organised with two workstations and additional storage, with all modifications carried out without touching the load-bearing structure.<\/p>\n

Existing heritage elements were preserved and highlighted \u2013 high ceilings, mouldings, curved walls, and exposed brick \u2013 giving the space an authentic character. Materials such as quartz and wood complement the existing parquet and furniture, while details like mirrored kitchen fronts and a red pendant lamp above the dining table further define the space’s identity.<\/p>\n
